About this experience

Take to the waters of the Chobe River with our Chobe River Cruise. Chobe National Park is well-known for its large herds of elephant that frequent the Chobe River on a daily basis. In the dry season an estimate of up to 85,000 elephants can be dispersed within the Chobe National Park, where the majority of them can be found along the river. Apart from the herds of elephants, Chobe also has lots more to offer.

The Park has lion, leopard, buffalo and a whole host of antelope like sable, puku, kudu, eland, roan and many others which you can get to see. The river is filled with big pods of hippos and some of the biggest crocodiles in Africa.

The chance of seeing wildlife on the islands and riverbanks is very high as is the likelihood of seeing large numbers of bird species, crocodiles and other wildlife. Elephant, buffalo, giraffe and hippo are common sightings with sable, leopard and numerous antelope also being regulars on guests check lists

Chobe boat cruises are a fantastic way to experience the best of Botswana.

You can get up close to large herds of animals that are abundant in the Chobe National Park. They tend to make their way to the river and onto the islands in the river to feast on the sweet grass. Puku and lechwe antelopes are standard on the Chobe floodplains.

Here, there is the highest concentration of elephants globally, and herds of elephants frequently cross the Chobe River. Hippos and crocodiles like to bask in the sun next to the water. You can also see buffalo and giraffe and other plains game. Lucky visitors might see leopards and lions! Furthermore, there are over 460 bird species in the park.

All Chobe boat cruises depart from Kasane, the town which borders the Chobe National Park. There are regular afternoon and morning departures.
