Garni Temple is the only pagan temple preserved in Armenia, located in Kotayk Province, on the banks of the River Azat. It is dedicated to the god Mihr, who was the God of Sun. After the adoption of Christianity, when all the pagan structures were being demolished, King Trdat III's sister Khosrovdukht asked her brother not to destroy the temple. In this way, the pagan temple of Garni reaches the present day. The 24 pillars of the temple symbolize the 24 hours of the day. Unfortunately, due to a devastating earthquake in 1679, Garni Temple was partially destroyed and rebuilt over the next 300 years.
Azat Reservoir is located in Ararat Province, near Lanjazat village. The way to Azat Reservoir opens up a view of the Yeranos Mountains, which in turn are reflected in the reservoir and make the view even more beautiful.
