Detailed itinerary

Stop 1

Arrive at Addis Ababa, meet our staff at the airport to welcome you, and then transfer to the hotel. After a short rest in the hotel, you’ll meet the guide at the hotel lobby to start your adventure with a city tour in Addis Ababa. Explore Marketo (the largest open-air market in Africa). Discover the national museum (meet Lucy 3.2 million years humanoid remains), Saint Trinity cathedral, and mount entoto for the best view of Addis Ababa.

In the morning take an hour’s flight by Ethiopian airlines to Gondar. Upon arrival check-in into the hotel and then take a city tour of this oldest city. Gondar was the 17th-century Ethiopian capital. In Gondar visit the 17th-century royal enclosure, Fasiledes bath, and Debrebrhan Selassie church.

In the morning drive to Simien mountain national park to see Gelada baboon. In addition to Gelada baboon, you also enjoy the amazing landscape and view of the national park. Then drive back to Gondar.

Late in the morning take 30 minutes flight to Lalibela. Upon arrival in Lalibela first check into the hotel, after a short break visits the first group of Lalibela rock-hewn churches.

In the morning visit the remaining second group of Lalibela rock-hewn churches. In the afternoon trek (1 hour) to another famous church called Asheten Maryam located on the outskirt of Lalibela town. After the visit trek back to town.

Late in the morning we take 1 hour flight from Lalibela to Semera with a connecting flight in Addis Ababa. Overnight in Agda or similar hotel in Semera

In the morning we drive from Semera city to Dallol. The drive from Semera to Dallol is very scenic and we will have several photo stops. Late in the afternoon, we will visit salt lake with gorgeous sunset.

In the morning, we will visit the colorful sulphur field of Dallol, salt mountain and the bubbling potash lake. Then we will drive to Ertale volcano. We will get to the rim of the volcano in the evening. We will visit the volcano in the evening and spend the night camping near the volcano.

In the morning we will drive from Ertale to Semera. On the way, we will visit Lake Afdera and its hot springs. After swimming in the lake and refresh ourselves, we proceed driving to Semera. Then we take the 1 hour flight back to Addis Ababa.

Early morning at 7:40 we take domestic flight to Jinka on Ethiopian airlines flight #ET171 arriving in Jinka at 9:50. Upon arrival in Jinka, we will meet our driver and then drive to the village of Mursi tribes. The Mursi women are known for wearing large circle disk plates in their lower lip which is considered as a sign of beauty in their traditions. After visiting Mursi tribes, we will drive back to Jinka town for lunch break. After lunch we will drive to our final destination of the day, Turmi. On the way visit the tribal market at Alduba village. Late in the afternoon we will visit the village of Hamar tribes in Turmi. The Hamar are well known for their traditional rites of passage called Bull Jumping, a compulsory rites of passage practiced by all Hamar men.

Today we will visit 2 tribes, namely Karo and Nyangatom. The Karo tribes are the smallest of all tribes in the Omo Valley, who live on the shore of the mighty Omo river. They are well known for their body painting and often called the masters of body painting. After the visit we will proceed to our next tribes, the Nyangatom. The Nyangatom are Nilotic agro-pastoralists inhabiting the border of southwestern Ethiopia, southeastern South Sudan, and the Ilemi triangle. They are famous among the tribes for their storytelling and singing as well as body decoration. After concluding our visit, we will drive back to Jinka for overnight stay.

Late in the morning at 9:25 we will take a flight to Addis Ababa on Ethiopian airlines flight #ET171 arriving in Addis Ababa at 11:45. After Lunch break in Addis, we will take another flight to Mekelle flight #ET260 departing from Addis Ababa at 14:40 and arriving in Mekelle at 16:10. Late in the afternoon we will take walking tour of Mekelle city, the capital of Tigray.

In the morning we will drive from Mekelle to Axum. Then we will spend the rest of the day visiting the city of Axum. Axum is a 3000 years old city and considered to be the birthplace of Ethiopian civilization. The city is home to several ancient palaces and archaeological sites. Here, we will also visit the famous Axum stele and the church of Saint Mary Zion which is believed to be the final resting place of the original Ark of the Covenant.

In the morning we will again drive back to Mekelle. After a short break in Mekelle, we will take a flight back to Addis Ababa. In the evening we will have a farewell dinner watching Ethiopian traditional dance and music live from the stage. Then transfer to the airport (according to your flight schedule) for your international flight back home. End of the trip.
