Everyone knows legendary Prometheus who under Greek mythology stole fire from Gods was chained to Mountain. Georgians have a famous myth like this too. The legend says that Amirani, like Prometheus, angered the gods and was punished. Days and nights eagle tormented him eating his liver; however, in contrast to the Greek giant, cruel gods chained Amirani not to the rock, but somewhere inside a huge cave. Presumably, it is in Prometheus cave, one of the most colorful place in Georgia. Here you can observe stalactites, stalagmites, underground river and lakes, nice 1.2km walk in mysterious and cool atmosphere and short boat trip if interested. Motsameta- It is a small and very beautiful monastery with round turrets crowned with peaked tent-shaped domes. The monastery is standing above the rough Rioni river. According to the legend the monastery was constructed on the place where Muslims executed David and Konstantin Mkheidze, Georgian princes, who refused to accept Islam. In a small monastery hall on an eminence there is a big rectangular ark with the hallows of the pious princes canonized by Georgian Church . Motsameta attracts crowds of tourists with an ancient superstition: if one crawls three times under the ark and makes a wish while touching the hallows, the princes David and Konstantin will grant it.
