Pura Campuhan Windhu Segara is one of the Kahyangan Jagat temples, which means it is a universal temple open to all Hindu devotees, regardless of their village or family group.

The temple is built using the Tri Mandala concept, which divides the temple area into three parts:

Nista Mandala (outer area),

Madya Mandala (middle area), and

Utama Mandala (main/holiest area).

This temple is also known as a place for melukat or spiritual cleansing, where people purify their body and soul using holy water. After the cleansing, devotees usually continue with prayers at the main shrine.

The whole process is usually guided by a temple priest (Pemangku) to ensure the rituals are performed correctly and respectfully.
