Stop 1

Begin the tour with a pickup from your accommodation in Rome by an air-conditioned comfortable vehicle and Professional English-speaking Driver.
Start your 1,5-hour drive to Montecassino, observing the landscape as you go.
Upon your arrival, begin a self-guided tour of the Abbey of Montecassino, one of the most well-known Abbeys in the world.

Visit to the Polish War Cemetery
Work on the construction of the cemetery began in 1944, shortly after the end of hostilities, and was finished in 1946. The official consecration, however, took place on 1 September 1945 during a multi-faith celebration conducted according to the rites of the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and Jewish faiths, and was attended by representatives of the Polish Government-in-Exile and of Allied Command.

The village of San Pietro was completely destroyed in late 1943 by fighting between the advancing U.S. forces seeking to break the Winter Line and the defending German troops. The Parco della Memoria Storica (History Memorial Park) contains the ruins of the village, still laying as they were at the end of the war.
