We start the tour at Hang Me Mẹ local restaurant to tast 3 cakes:
- Bánh Bèo (water fern cakes): Bánh bèo is made from a combination of rice flour and tapioca flour. It is popular street food in Vietnam. The ingredients include rice cake, dried shrimps, crispy pork skin, scallion oil, and dipping sauce.
- Bánh Nậm (Flat Steamed Rice Dumpling): Rice flour with mixture of Shrimps and lean meat pork steamed in banana leaves.
- Bánh Lọc ((Rice dumpling cake): It is covered with banana leaf. In each cake, there is a piece of shrimp and ground pork. The fish sauce goes with Bánh bột lọc is different from Bánh bèo. It is saltier, therefore, it is served in a very small plate. How to eat it? You peel the leaf, dip the cake with a sauce, then put it in your mouth… Yummy!
We will enjoy Bún Hến- mixed noodles with mussels- A mixed noodles with many kinds of vegetables, peanuts, small mussels...with fish sauce.
