We are met by our guide and board the Hobbit Bus for the short drive through the 1250 acre sheep farm to the movie set for a two hour escorted tour around the 12-acre site. Our local guide explains the history of the site as you wander along the rambling paths of The Shire, past Hobbit Holes, The Mill, and into the world-famous Green Dragon Inn where you can sample specially brewed beverages. After completing the Hobbit tour, we start the return trip to the Port and you’re waiting for the ship on time on board time well before sailing hour.

On our arrival at Whaka, we experience a traditional Maori welcome, followed by a cultural performance that showcase’s traditional Maori dance, songs, and the famous haka, weaving. Hear and see the world-famous Pohutu Geyser rumbling as it erupts steam and hot water up to 30 meters, bubbling mud and boiling hot water pools plus steam vents galore are some of the things you will experience.
