Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

The territory of the National Park of Mt Vesuvius is a concentration of natural riches, history of volcanology, breathtaking landscapes, centuries-old crops and traditions that make the Vesuvius area one of the most fascinating and visited places in the world. The Vesuvius National Park was officially created on 5 June 1995 to preserve animal and plant species, plant and forest associations, geological singularities, paleontological formations, biological communities, biotopes, scenic and panoramic values, Natural processes, hydraulic and hydrogeological balances and ecological balances of the Vesuvian territory.

2
Stop 2

Vesuvius is an example of a fenced volcano consisting of an external cone, Monte Somma, with crateric belt largely demolished within which there is a smaller cone represented by Vesuvius, separated by a valley called Valle del Gigante, part of the ancient caldera, where during the eruption of 79 AD, the Great Cone was formed. Vesuvius is a polygenic and mixed volcano, consisting of lava of different chemical composition (for example trachyte, tephrites, leucitites) and formed by both lava flows and pyroclastic deposits.

3

Sorrentino Vini was founded in 1990 by the passion of Paolo Sorrentino. The farm is currently the largest of Vesuvius as it has 35 hectares of property, all located within the National Park of Vesuvius. The most famous wine produced on Vesuvius is the Lacryma Christi. It’s the only DOC (Controlled Designation of Origin) produced on Vesuvius.
