Marathon Dam was constructed between 1926 and 1929 and it was the only water supplier to Athens until 1959. It is 54m tall and 285m long and the reservoir has a maximum depth of 54m. It was the most significant project in the Balkan’s at the same time.The Dam signifies a connection to Greece’s past with the victory of the Athenians at the battle of Marathon. At the base, there is a replica of the Athenian Treasury temple at Delphi

Marathon Tomb (or Tomb of the Athenians) was constructed to honor the 192 Athenians who fell during the Battle of Marathon in 490 B.C. At the archaeological museum of Marathon you will discover more details about this glorious battle.Near the museum there is another tomb which is devotes to the Plataeans, Athenians’s allies

At the ancient area of Vravrona you will find the temple of Artemis, dedicated to the Goddess of nature and hunting, women and child birth. It was built in the 4th B.C. century.The archaeological museum hosts a lot of exhibits that excavated in the area. Many other have been transferred to the museum of Acropolis.
