This renaissance castle built in the cave mouth is located in south-eastern Slovenia, in Predjama village just 9 km away from the famous Postojna Cave.
The castle was first mentioned in the 13th century. Since it was built under the rocky arch of the cave, it was really difficult to approach it.
There is a legend of the ruler of the castle at the time, Erazem of Predjama. He was known as a robber baron and used the castle to endure a long siege. During the siege, he was killed by a shot from a cannon in his lavatory.
