The turquoise surface of the Big Almaty Lake shines among the majestic Trans-Ili Alatau mountains at an altitude of 2500 m above the sea level. As a result of the earthquake, the mountains formed a gorgeous lake, the beauty of which will forever remain in your heart and which has long been one of the symbols of Almaty.
Since March 2020, the road to the Big Almaty Lake has been closed to private vehicles for an indefinite period. At the moment, tourists can get to the Big Almaty Lake only on foot.
