Our 4-5 Hour Private Round-Trip Tour of Cinque Terre, Portovenere and the Gulf of the Poets is a unique way to make the most of your time in the area! Departing from La Spezia, you will be able to see the beautiful Gulf of the Poets and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Portovenere with its very particular narrow coloured houses and the breathtaking St. Peter’s Church. We will take you into Byron’s Grotto, one of the most treasured places along the Ligurian coast. We will then head up the coast towards the Cinque Terre, observing the terraced hillsides and hidden villages only visible from the sea. We will pass by all five villages of the Cinque Terre before then returning back to La Spezia.
This tour takes places entirely on board the boat. Time and conditions permitting, we can make a short stop in Monterosso to get off the boat and explore.
This tour includes an on-board tasting of local pesto and fresh focaccia, along with service of local wine, beer, water and soft drinks.
Portovenere, often referred to as the sixth village of the Cinque Terre, is also considered to be the most beautiful of the coastal villages in the region. With this tall, narrow, brightly coloured houses that line the harbour and the incredible St. Peter’s Church on the cliff side, Portovenere is a sight not to be missed!
With brightly colored houses built vertically into the surrounding hills, Riomaggiore is the second largest of the five villages and is widely known for the excellent diving spots off its coast in the marine protected area that stretches all along the Cinque Terre. Here you will also see where the famous Via del Amore footpath begins, which leads to nearby Manarola.
Manarola is located at the northern end of the Via del Amore and is part of the municipality of Riomaggiore. Known for its wine production, Manarola produces the only dessert wine called Sciacchetrà which is found only in this area. We will pass by slowly to be able to see the village and take photos. There is a speed limit within the Cinque Terre National Park, so this tour has a nice, slow pace to allow you to soak in all the beautiful scenery.
Perched 100 meters high on a cliff, Corniglia is the only one of the towns without a port and has a panoramic terrace from which you can see Manarola and Riomaggiore to the south and Vernazza and Monterosso to the north. We will pass by slowly to be able to see the village and take photos. There is a speed limit within the Cinque Terre National Park, so this tour has a nice, slow pace to allow you to soak in all the beautiful scenery.
Vernazza the smallest of the Cinque Terre, and commonly known as the most charming with a beautiful little port and the Church of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia which stands right on the water. Here you will also see the Torre del Belforte which is located right on the harbour as a protective beacon for the small village. We will pass by slowly to be able to see the village and take photos. There is a speed limit within the Cinque Terre National Park, so this tour has a nice, slow pace to allow you to soak in all the beautiful scenery.
The northernmost village of the Cinque Terre is Monterosso, which is divided into two sides: the historic center and the "new" side called Fegina, with a pedestrian tunnel connecting the two. Monterosso is larger than the other towns and is the only one that offers beach services, making it the most visited of the Cinque Terre. We will pass by slowly to be able to see the village and take photos.
