About this experience

The Negombo lagoon is quite large and very popular as a good fishing area of Sri Lanka. You will be able to use traditional methods such as basic wooden catamaran or an outrigger canoe for fishing. Also, you will visit the fish market of Negombo in the morning. Enjoy a grilled seafood lunch in a local restaurant and a catamaran ride in the lagoon.

Detailed itinerary

05:30 AM - You will be greeted and picked up by our driver from a TUK TUK or an air-conditioned vehicle and taken to the Negombo fish market.

06:00 AM - Visit Negombo fish market which is known by locals as “Lellama“; the second-largest in Sri Lanka. It gives you the chance to meet the local fishermen, watch the daily fish auctions, organize fishing trips or boating tours of the lagoon and ocean beyond.

07:00 AM - After the fish market visit, you will start the boat ride in the Negombo lagoon. Here you can engage with traditional and modern ways of fishing in the lagoon. You will be provided with safety jackets and sports fishing equipment. Your guide will be showing you the best spots to fish. Refreshments will be provided.

12:30 PM - Thereafter you will take you to the restaurant to have lunch with seafood. Rice and two grilled seafood items will be served, plus any additional seafood you may have purchased during your visit to the fish market.

01:30 PM - After lunch, start your second half by a Catamaran ride with an experienced rider through the lagoon area while you relax and see the beautiful scenery.

03:00 PM - End of the lagoon tour, you will be taken back to your hotel.
