About this experience

In comparison with other ancient capitals in South East Asia, Hue is the one that still preserves comparatively the intact appearance of a complex of the monarchic capital consisting of walls, palaces, royal tombs, ect. The Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945) with 13 Emperors had it urbanized and built in systematic, philosophical and abundantly artistic ways. UNESCO acknowledged the Complex of Monuments of Hue to be the World Cultural Heritage in 1993.

Khai Dinh Tomb was the final architectural work of the Nguyen Dynasty. It is widely regarded as one of Vietnam's most exemplary structures due to its innovative use of Western materials and designs.

The tomb’s location was exactly determined by feng shui experts at that time. Natural surroundings such as hills and streams are near the tomb, which was also according to geographical feng shui principles. It resulted in an awe-inspiring and spectacular landscape that we can see nowadays.

Stop 3

The Thien Mu Pagoda (also called the Linh Mu Pagoda) is a historic pagoda on the banks of the Perfume River in Vietnam's historic city of Hue. Apart from their scenic riverside and hilltop location, the Thien Mu Pagoda and its environs are also rich in history, standing witness to almost four hundred years of tumultuous nation-building and religious belief in Vietnam.

The capital of Vietnam throughout the 19th and early 20th century was Hue, in Central Vietnam.
