Abdeen Palace marks the dawn of modern Cairo, shaped by Khedive Ismail’s vision to transform the city into a European-inspired capital. Under his direction, sprawling squares, wide boulevards, elegant palaces, Nile-crossing bridges, and lush gardens filled with exotic trees and palms were brought to life.

Commissioned in 1863 following his ascension to the throne, the palace took a decade to complete. It is named after Sultan Abidin Bey, a military leader under Mohamed Ali, who once owned a mansion on this very site. Khedive Ismail acquired the property from the widow of Abidin Bey and developed it into the grand Saray, expanding it to include the surrounding grounds and creating one of Cairo’s most iconic landmarks.

The Giza Pyramid Complex, or Giza Necropolis, sits majestically on Egypt’s Giza Plateau. It features the legendary Great Pyramid of Giza, along with the Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, their surrounding structures, and the world-famous Great Sphinx. Built during Egypt’s Old Kingdom Fourth Dynasty, the site also includes ancient cemeteries and the remains of a village that once housed the workers who constructed these monumental wonders.

The Great Sphinx of Giza, commonly known as the Sphinx, is a majestic limestone statue featuring the body of a lion and the head of a human—a symbol of ancient Egyptian power and mystery. Facing east, it stands proudly on the Giza Plateau along the west bank of the Nile River in Giza, Egypt.

Papyrus, one of the earliest forms of written material, originated in Egypt as far back as the First Dynasty. Made from the papyrus plant that once flourished along the Nile’s banks, it played a key role in recording the history and culture of ancient Egypt.
