About this experience

The Chimborazo Climb is a private guided tour that takes place over two days. During this trek, you’ll reach the point on Earth’s surface closest to the sun. Our objective is to summit Veintimilla Peak (6,227 meters above sea level) and Whymper Peak (6,263 meters above sea level), with a professional guide by your side and all the necessary gear to safely conquer Chimborazo’s summits.

In order to complete the ascent safely and avoid suffering from altitude sickness and the risks that this entails, it is essential that you acclimatize well before starting the ascent.
Not recommended for hikers with no experience in ice hiking (using ice axe and crampons)

The day before the tour starts in the afternoon we will be waiting for you at our offices in Riobamba ( https://g.page/julio-verne-travel-riobamba?share) for a briefing and to try on the mountain equipment that you will use during the ascent. If you have selected the extra transfer from Quito, the guide will pick you up at the agreed meeting point the same day you start the tour. Remember that it is imperative that you acclimatize well before starting the ascent and spend at least one week in the Andes at altitudes over 2800 m. before starting the tour. If you have not acclimatized properly and the guide does not consider it safe, you will return to the start of the route without reaching the summit.
