One of the longest and deepest slot canyons on the planet, Buckskin Gulch goes on for miles (about 24 miles if you just do Buckskin Gulch and not Wire Pass) and rarely gets wider than 20 feet. Don’t worry, we only do about the first 5-6 miles of Buckskin to give you a time appropriate experience. The sweeping movement of the canyon walls are breathtaking as you witness mother nature's masterpiece that has taken her millions of years to create. Temperatures within the canyon are much cooler than the surrounding sunny Red Rocks. Depending on how far in you go, you will often encounter puddles of water you’ll need to wade through. You would never be able to take in all of it’s incredible depth of beauty in one trip, but you can certainly try! Though it does require a permit, it isn’t a lottery permit, and our team can go and purchase it for you beforehand and then add it to your total cost.
On this private tour, your trained guide will drive you to Wire Pass. You then will embark on a guided hike to Wire Pass (3 miles round trip) and then explore 2-3 miles of the massive Buckskin Gulch slot canyon (more or less exploration depends on your capacity). Your expert guide will safely lead you through these areas knowing all of the best photography spots and teach you about the local geography and area. You do need a BLM permit to Wire Pass to go on this tour, however, this is something that we will purchase for your group before your tour and is included in your price.
