Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

The so-called “Dracula’s grave” in Snagov Monastery refers to the alleged burial site of Vlad Țepeș (Vlad the Impaler) — the historical figure who inspired the Dracula legend.
What is Snagov Monastery?
• Located on a small island in Snagov Lake, about 40 km north of Bucharest.
• Built in the late 14th century and reconstructed over the centuries.
• Accessed by a footbridge or boat, it’s a serene and historically rich place.
⚰️ Why is it called “Dracula’s Grave”?
• Vlad Țepeș ruled Wallachia in the 15th century and was known for his brutal methods of punishing enemies, most infamously by impalement.
• Historical accounts suggest he may have been buried at Snagov Monastery after being killed in battle around 1476.
• A tombstone was discovered in front of the altar, which many believe marks his grave.

The 1777 Wine Museum is a unique cultural attraction located in Valea Călugărească, Prahova County, Romania, nestled within the renowned Dealu Mare wine region. This museum is a faithful reconstruction of a traditional Romanian wine cellar (cramă) dating back to the year 1777, as indicated by the inscription on its portal.

️ Historical Significance

The original wooden structure was considered the oldest preserved peasant dwelling in Prahova County until 1985. In that year, it was dismantled to conserve its materials, which were later used to reconstruct the museum at its current location. The project was initiated by the Prahova County Museum of History and Archaeology and was inaugurated on May 18, 2013, coinciding with International Museum Day.

Mogoșoaia Palace: A Jewel of Brâncovenesc Architecture

Mogoșoaia Palace is a historic landmark located approximately 15 km north of Bucharest, in the village of Mogoșoaia, Ilfov County. Constructed between 1698 and 1702 by Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu, the palace exemplifies the Brâncovenesc architectural style, a unique blend of Venetian, Ottoman, and Byzantine influences .

---

️ Historical Significance

The palace was initially built by Prince Brâncoveanu, who ruled Wallachia from 1688 to 1714. Following his execution in 1714, the palace underwent several transformations, including serving as an inn and experiencing periods of neglect. In the 19th century, it came under the ownership of the Bibescu family, who undertook significant restoration efforts. Notably, Princess Martha Bibescu, a renowned writer and cultural figure, invested her personal fortune to restore and preserve the palace in the early 20th century .
