"The New Cathedral was completed in 1995 and was inaugurated at the end of that year, and ninety-five percent of the carved works that were in the old cathedral were moved there, including, of course, the Virgin Morenita, and the the main altar, the manger, the baptismal font, the angels and cherubs, and the work La Piedad, by the artist Miguel Sopó.
The New Cathedral consists of three naves: the central one and two lateral ones. In front of the central nave is the monumental cross, which can be seen before reaching the site.
