In the year 2000, the public learned of the existence of a huge atomic shelter, one of the largest of its kind in Europe, which could have been used as a protection for 350 people in the event of an atomic incident.
On the mountain Zlatar, not far from Konjic there is an object known as Tito’s bunker. Until the discovery of the true purpose, interior and imposing underground content and size, it was only a house that was in the middle of nowhere, as people like to say. More than 30 years ago, this atomic shelter was built, as the main command post of the former JNA. This object was being built 26 years, and $ 4.6 billion has been invested. Only four official commanders knew about the facility, and the workers who had to sign the silent contract.

Tito's bunker is a Cold War-era nuclear bunker and military command centre located near the town of Konjic in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Built to protect Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito and up to 350 members of his inner circle in the event of an atomic conflict, the structure is made up of residential areas, conference rooms, offices, strategic planning rooms, and other areas. The bunker remained a state secret until after the breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990s. Tickets for the visit are NOT included.
