The Kanheri Caves are a group of caves and single rock-cut monuments cut into a massive basalt outcrop in the forests of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, on the island of Salsette in the western outskirts of Mumbai, India.

It was formed in 1969 by merging different forest reserves with the Borivali National Park, which was 20.26 sq km in area. The geographical expanse of the national park thus formed was 104 sq km.

The Mandapeshwar Caves is an 8th Century rock-cut shrine dedicated to Shiva located near Mount Poinsur in Borivali, a suburb of Mumbai in Maharashtra, India. The caves were originally Buddhist viharas. These 6th century caves are located in a corner of Borivali- an otherwise northern suburb of Mumbai
