Stop 1

7.30 am Departure from your accommodation in Rome with our luxury car and our English-Spanish speaking driver. During the visit you will feel overwhelmed by an unforgettable atmosphere going back in time. Siena is an ancient medieval city built on three hills and surrounded by walls. The entire city was built around the Piazza del Campo, which has always been considered as a work of art that blends into the surrounding landscape of the Crete Senesi. The streets, the museums, the palaces, the very beautiful squares, the innumerable churches and the towers, speak clearly of the history of this city; in the various shops it is possible to taste local products such as: pecorino, the typical slices of Cinta Senese, wines, extra virgin olive oil from the area, the Tuscan pasta "I Pici e Pappardelle", Panna and Cinghiale, desserts typical like the ricciarelli and the panforte. Later you can visit the splendid Gothic cathedral "Il Duomo di Siena", one of the most beautiful and spectacular in Italy, but the most important event in the city is in Piazza del Campo (in the shape of a shell), listed among the most beautiful squares of Italy; witness of numerous historical events and dominated by the Torre della Mangia; here the most intriguing event is the "Palio" race, one of the most important things in the life of the inhabitants of Siena. In this square, from 2 July to 16 August, we celebrate the horse race without saddle (two laps), made for the first time in 1283. In these days chaos is a normal thing in "Piazza del campo", this square is covered with earth to cover his typical red brick and allow the horses to run calmly. During this festival everything is done with passion and love and one can observe the enormous local patriotism of its people. To be considered however: the Baptistery, the church of Santa Maria dei Servi, the house of Santa Caterina, the Medici fortress, the National Picture Gallery, the church of San Francesco ...

Stop 2

San Gimignano is a famous medieval village with a beautiful well-preserved historic center, known for its impressive towers, for the production of Vernaccia and saffron. On top of a hill overlooking the Val d'Elsa, and while we are arriving on the road, suddenly we could notice in the distance its famous medieval towers, in addition to the crown of olive trees, beyond the shadows of cypresses and vineyards, which it surrounds in a crowded way the hill town of San Gimignano. About 72 tower-houses (some as high as 50 m) as symbols of their wealth and power, although now it is possible to see only 14 towers that survived the various battles. However, the village has still confirmed its feudal atmosphere and its original architectural appearance. The Vernaccia, is one of the best white wines and is "produced only here", in 1966 it was the first Italian wine to receive the DOC mark. Saffron is a yellow colored substance obtained from the homonymous plant and is used for cooking and in some medicinal preparations. Considering the time available, you can have a nice wine tasting in an important winery typical of the area. And if you like ice cream I suggest you try the ice cream that also won the world championships in one of the best high quality ice cream parlors
