Detailed itinerary

The square takes its name from the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere founded in the 3rd century by Pope Calisto I and renovated in the 12th century at the command of Pope Innocent II. You can see at the centre of the square is the fountain of the same name, one of the oldest in Rome, which over the centuries underwent various restorations, the last of which was done by the architect Carlo Fontana towards the end of the 17th century.

This is a 5th century church in Rome devoted to a martyr St.Cecilia patron of Music.

Stop 3

Will pass by inside the old town of Trastevere heading to Piazza Trilussa.

Stop 4

This square is located between the Lungotevere della Farnesina and the Lungotevere Raffaello Sanzio, right in front of the Sisto bridge, it remembers the great Roman poet Trilussa. The Tour ends here and you can view by your own the scenery of the Tiber river crossing the old Sisto bridge or continue to explore freely the internal town area of the old Trastevere.
