Stop 1 Pass by

The tour starts right in front of the Church of Our Lady - Frauenkirche - on the Main Market Square, the center of the old town. It dates back to the 1300s and is built on the foundation of the former Jewish area. You'll stand here for a moment and listen to your audio guide, Claudia Radtke, telling you about the events that take place at the square.

Pass by the beer cellars and hear about the history of Nuremberg and the Lutheran traditions kept in the city. You'll listen to the audio as you pass the Albrecht Durer monument.

Stop 3 Pass by

On this self-guided walking tour, you will stop in front of the gate of the old mansion of Albrecht Durer, the most famous Renaissance artist of Germany. He lived and worked in this house around 1500. In the house is a museum. You will not find any original work, but you get an idea how he had lived and worked. The house itself is very important. It's the only existing house of a Renaissance artist in all Europe. Your guide, Claudia Radtke, will tell you this and more during this audio tour.

On this self-guided tour you'll walk past the Imperial Castle, enjoy views of view of the historic Old Town of Nuremberg and hear about the history of the Tiergärtnertorplatz.

Visit Weißgerbergasse on this self-guided tour. Weißgerber means white tanner. You'll hear about how this area got it's name. They were producing the fine leather for gloves and books. Nowadays it's the only street in all Nuremberg where you can find this many original buildings. This street is quiet during the day. One of the city's best ice cream places, Die kleine Eismanufaktur is located here at number 28, and a coffee shop with its own coffee brand. In the evening it's more busy. Look at all the bars and pubs which open at night.
