Detailed itinerary

1

Travel by luxury vehicle to and from the Hunter Valley Vineyards. This travel is about 2 hours each way

The Hunter Valley, north of Sydney in New South Wales, is one of Australia's major wine regions, with a viticultural history dating back to the early 1800s. Known for varietals such as Semillon and Shiraz, it’s home to numerous wineries, including world-renowned brands and family-run boutique operations. Most are located south of the Hunter River and offer cellar door wine tastings and vineyard tours.

2

Sample wines with a cheese board to accompany tasting

Draytons Wines is the oldest winery in Pokolbin, and one of the oldest wineries in Australia, combining over 170 years of wine-making knowledge and experience with modern techniques and equipment, to produce wines, liqueurs and fortified tawnys of outstanding quality.
Located in the heart of Hunter Valley, we're a local business built on the love of wine and a passion for uncompromising quality, which has been reflected in many awards and much acclaim gathered along the journey.
The Drayton Family first ventured into the Hunter Valley in 1853 and, over five generations, created one of the most iconic & respected wine brands in Australia.

3

The Audrey Wilkinson Cellar Door is perched atop a foot hill of the Brokenback Mountain Ranges, and is a true must see site of the Hunter Valley. With 360 degree views from every angle and a spacious colonial style cellar door – they are proud to be one of the most visited cellar doors in the region.

The cellar door staff have a true passion to make each visitor feel welcome and leave with unforgettable memories.

You can wander freely through our winemaking museum, housed in the original winery and showcasing the Wilkinson Family history and our heritage awarded original open cement vats.

Also on display are various barrel and wine making tools and equipment also exhibited with an audio visual presentation.
Entry to the onsite museum is free, and is open at the same times as our Cellar Door.

4

One of Australia's most successful family wineries, a humble operation for the first 110 years of its life that has grown out of all recognition over the past 45 years. Vat 1 Semillon is one of the most dominant wines in the Australian show system and Vat 47 Chardonnay is one of the pacesetters for this variety. Its estate plantings include over 100ha in the Hunter Valley and 26ha in Heathcote. In ’17 Tyrrell’s purchased the 13.5ha Stevens Old Hillside Vineyard on Marrowbone Road; 6.11ha are planted to shiraz, including a 1.1ha block planted in 1867, the balance planted in 1963, notably to shiraz and semillon. There are 11 blocks of vines older than 100 years in the Hunter Valley and the Tyrrell family owns 7 of those blocks

5

Chocolate enthusiasts are in for a treat at Hunter Valley Chocolate Company. Made from only the finest Belgian and Swiss Swiss Couverture chocolate, Hunter Valley Chocolate Company are well known for their quality, rich flavours and irresistible taste. Make sure to visit their factory location in the heart of the Hunter Valley to get an inside look to the workings of an active kitchen, and see owner Peter and his team busy at work creating their chocolate masterpieces.

6

Binnorie Dairy is one of Australia’s premiere soft cheese makers. Visit their state-of-the-art cheesemaking centre and retail store to taste and buy their lovely cheese.

There’s the flagship, gold-medal, award-winning marinated feta; the swoon-worthy triple cream brie; and creamy labna (so squishable).

If you are a goat’s cheese lover, you’re spoilt for choice. Select from Buche de chèvre, vine-ash goat cheese log, spreadable chevre with dill, or plain, unadorned chèvre that works just as beautifully in baked tarts as it does in salad.

Don’t forget their washed rind cheese, a soft surface-ripened white mould cheese that exhibits a characteristic orange rind. It’s guaranteed to elicit greedy compliments every time you serve it.

7

Located in the heart of Hunter Valley Wine Country, the accredited Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre is the premier destination to fulfil visitors’ needs and inspire them with the many diverse attractions and experiences available.

The friendly staff are available to assist in creating the perfect visitor itinerary and book visitors for accommodation, dining, tours, attractions, cellar doors and experiences.
