Located in a 35 thousand m² wooded area, the museum brings together a set of 85 works made of bronze, white cement and granite by the artist Felícia Leirner, distributed in the open air, on the garden of the space shared with the Claudio Santoro Auditorium, home of the International Winter Festival.
The works shown in the garden follow the artist’s criteria, the sculptures are grouped according to the phases of Felícia’s trajectory: figurative (1950-1958), on the way to abstraction (1958-1961), abstract (1963-1965), organic (1966-1970) and landscape clippings (1980-1982).
The set of works reveals the artist’s passion for nature and for the location, which has been considered one of the most important of the genre in the world by Sculpture Magazine, of the International Sculpture Center, in Washington D.C. (USA), in 1987.
Amantikir Park is a garden with 35 thousand m ² and 22 gardens inspired by 12 different nations, each garden reveals something about the culture of the country it represents. Its plants come from countries like France, Germany and England.
In addition to the gardens, there is a maze of bushes that presents a challenge to those who enter it, making an analogy to life: many times, our inner growth depends on roads difficult to travel in.
Amantikir Park is supported by three pillars: diversity, sustainability and education, all visitors should leave the park with a different relationship towards nature.
Also known as the Government Palace, this attraction was built between 1938 and 1964 to serve as a winter residence to São Paulo’s Governors.
In 1970, the residence became a Museum, at the request of the current Governor Abreu Sodré, and thereafter began to assemble a collection to be exposed to visitors.
At the Museum you can find works by major national artists like Tarsila do Amaral, Anita Malfatti, Candido Portinari, Di Cavalcanti and Bruno Giorgi, in an area of almost 3 thousand square meters and more than 100 rooms.
There are also Baroque pieces, furniture from the 17th century, religious art and tapestries. The collection has more than 1,800 pieces and the Museum also receives external exhibitions.
The charms of the European architecture, enhanced by colourful flower, Araucarias and pine trees make this open-air market an irresistible attraction. It’s a place to walk without haste, savour the delights of the cafes, bars and restaurants, and walk freely among the little shops offering local crafts, clothing, shoes and souvenirs.
