The museum was established in 1989 and has since become one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city.
It is housed in a beautiful French colonial-era building and has four floors of exhibits. The first floor is dedicated to the geological and natural history of the region, with displays of fossils, minerals, and local flora and fauna. The second floor showcases the history of the city, from its earliest settlements to its role in the Vietnam War. There are also displays of traditional Vietnamese crafts, such as ceramics, lacquerware, and silk weaving.
The third floor of the museum is dedicated to the culture of the Cham people, an ethnic group that has lived in the central region of Vietnam for over a thousand years.

The fourth floor of the museum houses temporary exhibits that showcase various aspects of Da Nang's culture and history.

Vietnamese coffee is known for its strong, robust flavor and unique preparation method using a metal phin filter. Banh mi showcases a delightful mix of textures and tastes, with crusty bread piled high with savory fillings like pate, pickled vegetables, and flavorful meats. Both are incredibly affordable, making them a budget-friendly way to enjoy delicious Vietnamese cuisine.
Da Nang even has its own unique take on the banh mi, featuring "ga" which translates to chicken, but is actually made with shredded pork floss. This focus on local flavors adds to the overall experience.
Coffee has become a deeply ingrained part of Vietnamese culture, and enjoying a cup with friends or colleagues is a common social activity. Banh mi reflects the influence of French colonial cuisine, but with a distinctly Vietnamese twist. Both represent a delicious and convenient way to immerse yourself in the local food scene.
