Well, Turkey is the home to all seven of the churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation, also known as the apocalypse, which was written by St. John the Apostle (also the author of the Gospel of John), who was exiled to the island of Patmos for his Christian faith. The Seven Churches are located in the geographic region of the Roman Empire known as the State of Asia.
