The building served as the headquarters of the mayor hospital of San Carlos. After independence, it became the San Juan de Dios charity hospital.
Republican wing: Name that has been given to the neoclassical architectural design that was used in the modification of the room in the 20th century, to serve as a shelter for the first infantry battalion of the Colombian Navy. Touring its facilities is a time of great battles and embody great characters who led the independence of Colombia.
