Cefalù is a coastal city in northern Sicily. It is known for the Norman cathedral, a 12th-century fortress-like structure with elaborate Byzantine mosaics and tall twin towers.
It is one of the major seaside resorts in the whole region; despite its size, every year it attracts a significant flow of local, national and foreign tourists who, in the summer, triple the population, making the main squares and the most important streets of the country crowded. It is an episcopal see.

The city of Monreale was born with the Normans in the XII century. In this place that the Norman kings retired to rest from the labors of war and the government of Sicily.
The most representative building in Monreale is the Duomo built, again by William II, between 1172 and 1176. The style of this monument known and appreciated all over the world.
Coeval with the construction of the Cathedral, the cloister has a quadrangular shape and contains, in a small space, an entire sample of forms and cultures taken from Provencal, Burgundian art, the classicism of the Salerno area and, as always in this area of Sicily , from Arab art.
