What you'll see

With 70 percent of its landscape being mountains, Korea is a veritable playground for hiking enthusiasts. Seoul is one of few cities in the world which has easily accessible mountains in its metropolitan area. Seoul’s most prominent peak is Bukhansan called the "lungs of Seoul" in reference to the forests which help provide fresh, clean air to the city. With its granite peaks and Bukhansanseong Fortress, Bukhansan is perfect for hiking in all seasons. In the spring, all kinds of flowers bloom, and in the summer, lush forests carpet the numerous valleys. The hiking path along the valley is perhaps the best summer mountain climbing course. And the fall is the perfect time to enjoy autumn colors. In the winter, the snow-covered mountain scenery is very beautiful.

Bukhansan is reachable by public transportation within less than an 40 to 20 minutes from downtown Seoul. There is no better way to really get up close and experience Korea's picturesque outdoors than hiking.

The experienced mountaineering guide who will take you to the world of hiking to explore the wonder of Bukhansan meets you at your hotel, and move to trailhead of Bukhansan. Bukhansan has more than 100 trails, and you will hike the best trail with beautiful granite peaks and stunning panoramic view of Bukhansan.

Euisangbong ridge trail is a little difficult but exciting hike at Bukhansan. There are a few steep rock slabs on trail, so this hike is moderately difficult. For beginner hikers, do not be afraid to try out this hike! There is another easier path around the track that will be suitable for beginner hikers to follow. It will take a total of about 6 to 7 hours to hike including resting and taking pictures.

Entering trailhead from northern part of Bukhansan, you feel the fresh air with scent of herb, and after one hour’s climbing, we stop at the first peak of today's hiking, and you meet the most beautiful scenic view of summit and peaks of Bukhansan like Baekundae, Mankyungdae, Insubong and Nojeokbong. Afterward, we will go up and down a few more peaks while looking at the beautiful ridges of Bukhansan. While hiking, we can see the historic remains of Bukhansansung fortress built 2000 years ago.

During hiking, delicious Korean hiking lunch, snack and seasonal fruits are serviced by hiking guide. After seven peaks’ climbing, we reach to the final peak of the ridge and gate of fortress wall. We stop at a Buddhist temple located near the gate of fortress. From this point on, we see beautiful valleys and water as we go down southern part of the mountain. While hiking, explanations on Bukhansan and Korean history and culture is also provided by guide who has official tour guide license. After hiking, we will take to the hotel.

The trail may be subject to change by hiker's ability and preference, and there is an option for relax at Korean style spa in winter and dinner to celebrate the hiking if customer want.
