Fontainhas is not only one of the oldest but the most picturesque area in Goa. The only area still preserved as part of the Latin colony. The people of this area have managed to still keep its quaint familiar charm.
The beautiful decorated ‘Azulejos’, the narrow alleys of this neighborhood gives way to striking views of the cityscape. Our tour begins in Fontainhas and will pass through some key areas before heading to a local tavern for shot of Feni, a local drink.

Further down town head towards the Abde Faria statue - The statue of Abbe Jose Custodia Faria, is that of a priest hypnotizing a woman and is located in a small square just near the Secretariat in Panjim. Alexender Duman writing his Count of Monte Cristo fifty years later included in his novel a prisoner in the Chateau known as the Mad Monk. He gave this character the name of Abbe through hardly on the true facts of his adventurous life.
The Mary Immaculate conception church - This Church is located in the heart of the city. It is one of the first churches to be built in Goa with its church bells being the second largest in the world. Best viewed at night when the entire monument is ablaze with lights. Earlier, it is said to have acted almost like a lighthouse for weary sailors. The imposing structure speaks volumes about the religiosity of the times (1540's).
Your host will take you to the fish & vegetable market, walk through the bustling Panjim fish and vegetable market – this is a large colorful market where you can see all sorts of interesting things on offer, including household wares, spices, fish, meat, vegetables and many other goods. It's a great way to see daily life in Goa.
Later proceed to Fontainhas area with a Tuk Tuk.
