About this experience

Rotterdam has more flat rooftops than any other city in the Netherlands. This is partly a result of the reconstruction following the bombardment on May 14, 1940. Join us on this 2,5 hour exploration along and on four innovative and special rooftops in the city centre of Rotterdam and enjoy the magnificent views of the city skyline.

Stop 1

Here we will start the tour and give you an introduction of the Rooftop tour and explain more about the interesting history of rooftops in Rotterdam.

This third rooftop is in total 2 kilometers long and therefore the longest rooftop of the Netherlands. It's an old train track which was and will be converted in an elevated park.

The second rooftop you will visit is a rooftop garden which was rewarded 'the Best Rooftop of the Netherlands.' Its a marvelous green rooftop with chickens, vegetables and fruits.

The first rooftop you will visit is the rooftop of the NH Atlanta hotel on the Coolsingel. This rooftop gives you a spectaculair view of the Coolsingel with the city hall and the old Post Office. Your guide will share with you examples of new uses of rooftops in the city.

The fourth rooftop is situated in the most central part of the city centre and provides an impressive view on the medieval Laurenschurch. This rooftop has a social use. Here your guide will share with you the transformation Rotterdam has undergone in the past 70 years.

In the Old harbor of Rotterdam you will go up the White House and enjoy a mind blowing view on the Maas river, the cube houses and the entire city centre of Rotterdam. This is the place where your rooftop tour will end.
