Detailed itinerary

1

Starting in 1990, organized excursions began to be made to the Parque Nacional del Este that departed from the town and, logically, the boats were navigated by the local inhabitants. The arrival of the large hotels diversified the activities of the population, who to a large extent already work in the hotel zone or have businesses related to the visits that tourists from the hotels regularly make in the picturesque town.

Beaches
The beaches are undoubtedly one of the main tourist attractions in Bayahibe. The beaches are white sand and crystal clear calm waters, typical of the Caribbean Sea. Two beaches stand out: 2

Bayahibe Beach: homonymous beach to the town where it is located, it is the most popular with the locals. The beach has fine white sand, warm shallow waters, little waves and exuberant coconut palm vegetation. To the south of this beach is the Port of Bayahibe, where excursion boats set sail to the islands in the area, such as Isla Saona or Isla Catalina.

2

Departing from Bayahibe and passing the Canaleto Catuano, you reach Saona Island, where the most popular excursion for tourists who visit the area takes place. Saona Island is part of the Cotubanamá National Park and was selected as one of the best dream beaches in the Caribbean by "Caribbean Travel & Life" magazine. Its pristine beaches, lush palm trees, and turquoise waters make it one of the most enchanting regions in the Dominican Republic.

About 400 meters from the coast is one of the biggest tourist attractions on Isla Saona, a natural pool in the middle of the sea where the depth is barely one meter. It is a perfect place to relax and have contact with all kinds of exotic marine species present under the waters, such as starfish, corals, tropical fish, shells and snails.7

Isla Saona attracts between 2,000 and 2,500 tourists daily, for an annual average of 600,000 people.
