About this experience

Leshan Giant Buddha as a landmark of Sichuan province is the largest stone statue carved on cliffs in China. It is also one of the UNESCO listed world heritage. This tour leads you to marvel at the giant Maitreya statue which shows an incredible high level of human craft technique as early as in Tang dynasty. It is a treasure of ancient Chinese intelligence.

Stop 1

This tour usually starts at 9 am from your Chengdu downtown hotel. After at most 2-hour drive, we will get to the destination: Leshan Giant Buddha. As visitors can see, the Buddha’s head is in line with the mountain, its feet step into the water, the confluence where Min River, Qingyi River and Dadu River meet. In A.D. 713, the Buddha has already been started building. The whole giant Buddha is 71 meters high with head 14.7 meters high and 10 meters wide. The Buddha itself owns a high status in China even the world resulting from not only its size but also the architectural artistry, which can be embodied in its coiled hair and miraculous drainage system.

Stop 2

During the journey you will also pay a visit to Lingyun Temple, a Buddhist temple originally built in Tang dynasty. It bears valuable meaning for Chinese Buddhist culture. Many literati and poets left much praise in their poems or articles about Lingyun Temple.

When the tour is over, you will be transferred back to your Chengdu hotel safely.
