Agra Fort is the second world heritage site of the city. It is one of the oldest and the largest fort in India. It was built in the 10th century by the Hindu Rajput King Badal Singh. Later this fort was rebuilt by Third Mughal King Akbar. Akbar built lots of palaces in Agra fort with red sandstone. Shahjahan also added some magnificent buildings with white marble. Jahangir Palace, Diwan-a-khas, Diwan-a-am,khas mahal are the beautiful palaces of Agra Fort.
After the visit to Agra fort, visit the beautiful mausoleum Itmad-u-daulah, also called Baby Taj.
Itmad-u-daulah is a tomb of Mirza Gyas Beg built by his daughter Noor Jahan. He was the prime minister in the court of Jahangir and died in 1621 in Agra. This mausoleum was built from 1622 to 1628 in white marble with beautiful inlay work.
After the sightseeing, spend some time visiting the local handicrafts of the city developed during the Mughal rule in India. Marble Inlay work is the famous handicraft of the city, and lots of families from the 16th century are working with marble Inlay work. The traveler can see the live demonstration of this art, and no change has come in this art from the 16th century.
