Built in 1885 in honour of King Victor Emmanuel II, this neoclassical monumental structure is referred to as the “Wedding Cake” by the locals. It’s easy to see why! Nearby is the Quirinal Palace, the official residence of the current Italian President.

You will see wonderful Greek and Roman sculptures as well as the sarcophagi of Empress Helena and Constantina, the mother and daughter of Constantine the Great. Then, the tour takes you through the Gallery of the Candelabra, Gallery of the Tapestries, Sobieski Hall, and eventually to the breathtaking Raphael's Rooms.

The Sistine Chapel, the home of Michelangelo's famous fresco, “The Last Judgment,” is next. The Sistine Chapel is also the venue for papal elections, and is one of the most popular attractions in Italy. Your tour guide will explain the stories from the Bible, including the creation of Adam, and how it relates to the frescoes.

The tour will end in Saint Peter’s Square, where you can view Bernini’s statues and the famous chimney which announces the election of a new Pope.
