This cascade is an exceptionally beautiful and unusual natural pearl. The waterfall looks like it magically appears from within the lava, but it actually is a spring that surges through the ground and runs down into the Hvítá river. The waterfall streams out of Hallmundarhraun which is an ancient lava field created in an eruption from a volcano lying under Langjökull glacier.
Langjökull, the ‘Long Glacier’, is the second-largest glacier in Iceland, at 935 square kilometres (361 square miles). You'll follow your guide through these intricate tunnels, witnessing first-hand the ever-changing environment of glaciers. You'll see countless of rooms and halls built inside the glacier, including the 'chapel', where both weddings and concerts have been held.
On the way back we will stop at Krauma and Deildatunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. The hot spring temperature is 100°C (212°F). Kraum is a natural geothermal bath, spa, and restaurant that specializes in Icelandic cuisine from the freshest local farm-produced ingredients.
