About this experience

See how cocoa is cultivated for chocolate at a farm in the forested countryside and join in the process if you wish. After meeting the village leaders, you will head to a small family-operated farm for an eye-opening look at how cocoa is produced and its enormous impact on the local economy. Ghana is the world’s second-largest cocoa exporter and demand remains high, although there are challenges to growing it as you will discover while conversing with the farmers. You will see how the trees are pruned and the cocoa harvested and dried, all vital steps that you will be welcome to participate in. Depart for a typical cocoa farming village

Drive past Monkey Hill and adjoining wetlands. Unique virgin forest inhabited by monkeys and birds in the centre of the metropolis and the story of the monkey. Drive through Sekondi European Town. See the old colonial buildings, High Court, Commercial and Residential buildings. Drive past Fort Orange. You guide will give the story of the Fort and the old Railway Station.

Arrive in the Cocoa Farming village and visit a small cocoa farm to see how cocoa is produced and its enormous impact on the local economy. Embark on a brief walking tour of the village to experience village life in Ghana.

Depart for Sekondi-Takoradi. Drive pass the Essipong Sports Stadium.
