The natural park includes the system formed by the Albufera proper, its humid environment, and the littoral cord adjacent to both.
It was also known by the Romans as Nacarum Stagnum and in some Arab poems it is called Mirror of the Sun.

It is one of the most known and characteristic districts of the Albufera lake, located in the middle of irrigated areas, and conserves some of the traditional barracks in the area.
