Overview
Bibi-Khanym Mosque is one of the most monumental buildings in the Islamic world and a testament to the architectural prowess of the Timurid era. It is named after Bibi-Khanym, the favorite wife of the Turk-Mongol conqueror, Amir Timur, who built the mosque for her around 1399.
It is one of the most important examples of Islamic architecture in Central Asia and a significant historical site in Samarkand.
